Booklore review: our verdict
Booklore feels more like a reading salon than a typical bookstore, featuring leather and tartan armchairs arranged around low tables. Dark wooden walls display books face-forward, illuminated like works of art. You enter through an arcade gallery with wrought-iron grilles, and you quickly develop the reflex to slow down.
The selection, in French and English, ranges from novels to children's albums, with a dedicated corner for kids and a team eager to offer advice when given the time. The venue also aims to be cultural, hosting writing, theatre, music, and storytelling workshops for adults and children. It is ideal for readers who love to browse, families, and travellers short on novels; less so for those who want to enter, pay, and leave in two minutes.
The best deal: children's workshops, advertised on the bookstore's website. Note: open from 10 am to 6 pm, until 4 pm on Sundays.
