brew & stories review: our verdict
"Not a café with books": brew & stories sets the tone, and the shelves deliver on the promise. There are novels, essays, and poetry in Arabic, French, and English, with reading recommendations offered at the counter by the house, alongside specialty coffee made from single-origin beans by baristas who know what they are serving. You are more than welcome to step away from the espresso: the black sesame latte is one of the surprises on the menu.
The venue, spanning 138 m² with around forty seats, is split across two levels: a lively ground floor and a quieter upper floor with reading nooks. Located on Rue d'Oujda in the Hassan district, it is the post-work refuge for those who read, the address for a solitary afternoon with a novel or a meeting that wants to talk about books. This is not a place for lunch: you come for the cup and the pages, not for a full meal.
The catch: closing at 7 pm on weekdays, 8 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, which shortens impromptu reading evenings. The tip: keep an eye on the schedule, featuring book launches, reading evenings, and coffee workshops. Note that the space can also be privatized for a birthday or a team.
