Restaurant Marea review: our verdict
The fish pastilla is Marea's pleasant surprise, perfectly capturing the restaurant's spirit: a fusion of Moroccan and Mediterranean seafood cuisine that favors generous flavors over complexity. Surrounding it are garlic shrimp that are flavorful without being heavy, a fresh fish platter, a melting slab of salmon, and finally, a tiramisu that holds its own.
Families and friends gather here to share a few dishes in a simple, unpretentious setting. Service is friendly but can become rushed when the dining room fills up, sometimes resulting in dishes arriving lukewarm. Those dreaming of a paella will be disappointed, as the seafood rice lacks both the texture and the aroma; nor is this a table of high gastronomy, as visitors come to enjoy good fish rather than be dazzled.
The dish to order is the fish pastilla, followed by the tiramisu. The trap to avoid is the seafood rice. The house is closed on Mondays and does not serve dinner on Sundays.
