Dar Al Fawakih Medina review: our verdict
The name hints at fruits, and that is where it all begins: lemon-ginger juice, avocado smoothies, and fruit salads made to order. However, Dar Al Fawakih does not stop at the juice bar. The menu ranges widely, from tanjia to sautéed mussels and shrimp, passing through bisque pasta and vegetable sandwiches topped with shrimp, chicken, or meat.
The room is small and nicely decorated, with fast and relaxed French service. It is a good stop for a refreshing midday break or an informal meal after a walk in the medina, especially since the kitchen operates from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. and prices remain reasonable. Avoid the pizza, the least convincing part of the menu, and those with large appetites will find some portions small.
The dish to order: the tanjia, with a fresh juice on the side. The trap: the mqila de crevettes, flavorful but small for 65 DH (checked in December 2025). The best time slot: lunch, because traditional dishes, prepared in limited quantities, may be missing in the evening.
