Pizza Ricca review: our verdict
The oven is visible from the sidewalk: a red-tiled dome, the restaurant's name spelled out in yellow mosaic, and the crackling wood fire inside. Pizza Ricca serves large thin-crust pizzas that arrive piping hot, with a tomato sauce that packs a punch; the large-format margherita is enough to get the idea. The menu extends to paninis, fries, and large composed salads featuring fresh fruit.
Located right in the heart of Rabat on the medina side, the spot features a few tables under the arcades and a small, vivid red room around the counter. Prices remain friendly and service is quick if you stick to pizzas. This is the perfect spot for a pizza after a walk through the medina or an inexpensive dinner with friends; it's not the place to order starters and main courses, as the rest of the menu can take a while to arrive.
The pizza to order: the large margherita. The trap: adding other dishes, which may arrive half an hour after the pizzas. The best time to visit: lunch, for a table under the arcades; the house serves every day from noon until 11:30 PM.
