Rivayat review: our verdict
Who would have bet on a memorable butter chicken on the road to Ouarzazate? Rivayat, the Indian restaurant at The Oberoi, serves it with a well-spiced sauce and meat that falls apart at the fork, in such a generous portion that you can't finish it. The chicken biryani, signed by Chef Summit's team, plays in the same league, generous and precise.
The decor and the view are part of the meal, and the service knows how to welcome, even transforming a dinner into an invitation to return. Open only in the evening, from 7 pm to 10:30 pm, it's a table for tête-à-tête or a birthday dinner, for a meal you'll remember. Not for an improvised meal or a late-night ending: book well in advance, and the kitchen closes early.
The dish to order: the butter chicken, then the biryani to share. The trap: the ftour buffet, less accomplished than the à la carte menu, with a colder welcome.
