Restaurant Kebdani review: our verdict
Pushing open the door of Kebdani on rue Dar Baroud leads to a Rif-style lamb tajine and reveals an honest, generous Moroccan cuisine that dares a bit more than expected: kefta and chicken skewers served with house-made sauces, including a beetroot-vanilla one, and a menu that thinks of vegetarians, from harira to vegetable tajine and meatless couscous.
Service keeps up the pace on busy days, and small attentions often return: a complimentary starter, Moroccan tea, and some cakes to finish. You can also settle into the basement, which has its own atmosphere. It's a table for a first meal upon arriving in Tangier, for a group mixing vegetarians and carnivores, or for a family. Less so for a quiet dinner on busy evenings: the address attracts crowds, and it can be heard.
The dish to order: the Rif-style lamb tajine. The good tip: finish with a lemon tart and a cinnamon coffee, or a very refreshing lemonade.
